Fall Fest 2019

On Wednesday we headed to church for the annual FBC Fall Fest. 

This year we had Mal (Descendants), SWAT officer, and a very scary dinosaur

The kids trick or treated, played all kinds of games, made arts & crafts, bounced and rode a mechanical bull...they had a blast!

Cason handcuffed his candy bag to his arm. That bracelet on his wrist are the handcuffs. 

The RAs & GAs also had bake sale and raised lots of money for Operation Christmas Child!! 

Wonder Woman 5k

Tuesday evening Bradley and the kids ran the Wonder Woman 5k, which was part of SFA homecoming events this week. This was Cason's first race. 

With about a half mile to go Eli joined the race. He wanted to run the entire thing, but we told him this was where the 3 year olds started. He did great, did not walk at all!

Bradley said that both Emory and Cason did a great job. They both ran 2 miles before taking a walking break. We are super proud of all three of them!

Eli is super proud of his medal. He wore it all day yesterday until it was time to put on his dinosaur costume for Fall Fest.

PWF Heifer Show and Sales

Saturday was another early day. Emory showed Mitsy at the heifer show. She was a single entry in her class so she won first place, including a blue ribbon and $20.00. She didn't place in the champion drive but did a good job showing Mitsy who was not happy to be at the fair. 

As soon as the heifer show ended we headed over to the ag mechanics sale. Bradley is chairman of ag mech again this year, so we all helped work the sale. We also ended up buying this mineral feeder at the sale. Cason did an excellent job bidding on it! 

As soon as the Ag Mech sale was over we rushed to get Pinto ready and headed to the Premium Sale. Cason was first in the sale for his chickens, Emory 9th for Pinto, and Cason 50th for Moonpie. Both kids did very well in the sale and added money to their college savings accounts. Pilgrims bought Cason's chickens and Emory's goat and Borders bought Cason's goat. We were very appreciative of them. 

2019 Premium Sale Order 

It has been an exciting fun filled few days and we are all exhausted. The 2019 PWF was extremely good to us and we are all very grateful. We may never have another year where one kid comes home with a banner and buckle, much less two. 

PWF Goat Show

Friday morning we were up bright and early again for the goat show. Both Emory and Cason showed goats this year. The show started this year with showmanship. Emory and Pinto competed in junior showmanship. 

Emory's class took a field trip to watch the showmanship competition and cheer Emory on. She won Grand Champion again this year in showmanship.

After showmanship the goat show started. Emory and Pinto placed first in their class and Cason and Moonpie placed second in their class. They both went in for the champion drive. 

Emory and Pinto ended up with Reserve Champion Market Goat (the boy beside her won Grand Champion) 

Cason and Moonpie placed 12th overall and both goats made the premium sale!!

PWF Broiler Show and Carnival

The Piney Woods Fair started on Wednesday morning with the broiler show. This year was Cason first year to be able to show at the fair and he chose to show chickens and a goat, so we were there bright and early Wednesday morning. We were not sure what to expect with our chickens because it was our first year to show chickens, honestly we were just hoping to make the sale. Surprisingly, Cason ended up winning Grand Champion.

I could't see from where I was standing, but friends said he had a huge smile on his face. This was just after the judge walked away. I think he was in shock still.

The news and newspaper were there and Cason was interviewed by both right after he was awarded grand champion. He did a wonderful job on the interview and remembered to use his manners! The next day Cason and Emory were on the front page of The Daily Sentinel. 

After the broiler show we came home and washed and clipped both goats. Then that evening we headed to fair to ride rides. Andrew and Rachel came in that afternoon and the kids got to ride together.

Emory is under the first S. I think she rode the Genesis 7 or 8 times during the fair. After a few hours of riding we headed home. We had a great first day at the PWF!
