Stitches

Yesterday Emory became the first Cobb kid to get stitches. She had a run in with the slide at school and lost. The slide was slippery from the earlier rain and somehow she slipped and tumbled down the slide hitting her chin hard on the slide. She ended up on the ground and by the time Bradley got to the school she was covered in mud and blood. I met Bradley in town and helped him finish getting her cleaned up the best we could so that I could take her to get it looked at. She ended up with a deep cut that required three stitches, as well as a very sore teeth and jaw. She was brave despite the many painful shots it took to numb the area. After we left we headed to Sonic for a treat while her chin was still numb. An Oreo blast and cheese tots helped her to feel better!  We go back in a week to have the stitches removed and she was cleared to play basketball Thursday if she felt up to it (she of course had to miss her game yesterday). 

 

Happy Birthday Emory

Last Friday Emory turned 12 years old! 

She celebrated at school with me bringing her a special lunch and cookies for her and her friends. She then went to a slumber party for one of her friends who also has a January birthday. They all three had a blasts! 

Saturday she came home and we had a little party for her complete with cake and one of her favorite home cooked meals, per her request.

We got Emory a suture practice kit and she loved it, going right to work after her presents were opened and a piece of cake in her belly.

Emory had a great birthday weekend, but was completely worn out and in bed by 8:00 Saturday night. 

School in the snow

Tuesday school was delayed until 10:00 a.m. due to the freezing temps Monday night and icy roads. Snow still covered the ground everywhere and I took a picture of the kids going to school in the snow. It may be the only time that ever happens, unless they go to college further north! School that day included lots of snowball fights too! 

 

Snow Day 2

Monday morning we woke up to a winter wonderland. I have never seen so much snow in East Texas. The trees were covered which resulted for lots of limbs down and most of Nacogdoches without power. It was beautiful though.

The snow had melted off the trees by Monday afternoon, but the temperature was back to below freezing by that evening, so the ground stayed covered with snow.  The kids played most of the day outside in the snow. We did take a ride in to town to get some lunch, because our electricity was still out, and it was pretty seeing Nacogdoches blanketed in snow. 

Snow Day 1

Last Sunday we had snow in the forecast, with some even calling for 2 to 3 inches of snow. Bradley and I were not very optimistic that it would stick, but hopeful the kids would at least get to see some snow. It started sleeting around 2 that afternoon with it quickly turning to snow. By 4:00 it had started to stick on the ground. We had three excited kiddos!

It snowed and snowed. We lost electricity around 8:00 that night and heard lots of limbs snapping during the night. Emory and Cason camped out in the living room in front of the fireplace and Eli, Bradley and I slept in our room under lots of blankets to keep warm.

Christmas afternoon Eli decided that his new 4-wheeler needed an oil change. All by himself he jacked up his 4-wheeler using a board and went to work changing the oil.
