FBC Easter Egg Hunt

Yesterday afternoon was the Easter egg hunt at church. Emory helped work the event, while the boys hunted eggs. I wasn't able to get a picture of Emory working at one of the craft tables, but managed to get a couple of the boys. They both had a great time and came home with lots of goodies.

The Birthday Boys

Saturday afternoon we celebrated the boys birthdays.

Cason got a new desk and desk chair for his birthday and he and Bradley put it together yesterday.

The boys received many fun things for their birthday and had a great time. The excitement continued that evening with a EF-2 tornado touching down just up the road in Mt. Enterprise, however we didn't even get a drop of rain.

Nacogdoches County Steer Show 2021

Friday Emory and Cupid participated in the 60th annual Nacogdoches County Steer Show. They had a great day, winning Champion English Steer and Reserve Grand Champion Steer. Emory won two belt buckles, a big blue ribbon, a trophy, and a very nice banner. She was also interviewed by Channel 9 news and was featured at both the 6 and 10 news. She was excited to say the least!

Emory with the judge. The lighting under the barn is bad for taking pictures, but I tried.

I snapped this picture from across the barn of Eli and Bradley. To me it looked like Eli was trying to talk his Daddy into something.
Yesterday evening was the sale. Emory earned $5800 for her steer at the sale. We also learned that she received some add on money, but we are not sure how much at this time. We were very excited and pleased with how the sale turned out.

Medieval Feast

Last Friday Cason's class participated in the Medieval Feast with the 8th and 11th grades. Cason's class has been learning about the medieval period and as part of the feast they had to make and design a shield using designs from the period that meant something to them. They also were partnered with a 8th and 11th grader to work on a research project over a topic pertaining to the time period. The groups then presented their research after the feast.

Alaska Comes to Texas

February 15th it snowed for the second time this year. The snow was followed by a major winter storm that dropped temps to 0 and lots of ice on us. We were without electricity for 5 days and our water was off and on most of the week. Trees and limbs were down everywhere, as well as many electric poles. Things basically shut down for a week. Thankfully we were able to find diesel to keep the generator running and we had enough firewood to stay semi-warm.
It looks so pretty, but boy was it cold.

We bundled up in front of the fireplace to stay warm. The rest of the house was in the 40s.
The sun finally came out after several days. After this winter I think I am just fine without snow for a couple years.

At the Cross Classic - Steer Show

Back on February 6th Emory showed Cupid at the 3rd Annual At the Cross Classic. They received Reserved Grand Champion in both rings!

JH Basketball 2021

Emory played JH basketball this year. It was a crazy season with COVID and all the restrictions in place, but we were able to watch her play in person for several games. She started the season knowing zero about basketball. She learned a lot fast and even scored a few times! The girls played in the Round Robin tournament, winning both their games and coming in first in the bracket to finish off the season.
