Pre-K Memory Book & Diploma

Last night we attended an awards ceremony at Emory's school. The K-Prep and Kindergarten classes received their diploma's and the older students received academic and athletic awards. Mrs. Duke also gave Emory a memory book, which I just love.

The older student holding Emory (right page bottom left) is Haley Duke, Mrs. Duke's step-daughter. Emory and Haley became "special friends" this year. Emory is going to miss Haley next year when she is off at college.

Last Day of Pre-K

Today was Emory's last day of Pre-K!

Emory has grown and learned so much this year. She went from not recognizing all her letters to reading and spelling words! She also lost 3 teeth and has grown several inches. She has made many new friends and has had a wonderful first year of school! 

 Mrs. Duke got all the kids a book, a class of 2027 shirt for them to grow in to, and a picture of them wearing it.  

 I definitely will need to hang onto this picture so Emory can hold it in one of her senior pictures!!

Field Trip

Last Thursday Emory's class went to the zoo!

 Emory's Pre-K class minus Jonah who was running late!

 Emory and her friend Ronnie riding the train. I got tickled because Ronnie asked Emory if she would ride with him on the train and she told him that she needed to ride with me so I would not be lonely. I told Emory that I would be okay and she could ride with Ronnie. Emory agreed as long as I sat behind them.

 Love was in the air for the peacocks. The males were strutting their stuff all over the place.

 The baby giraffe was playing with a stick. He/she would swing it around in his/her mouth. The kids thought it was the funniest thing ever!

 I was able to get a picture of the white peacock through the palms!

This guy followed us around for a while. I guess he liked us!  At one point he blocked the path with his wings and would not let the school group behind us get through. He stayed like this until our group started moving again. The kids all had a blast and then headed back to school for Fast Forward Thursday. That is when all the classes (except seniors) go to the next grade level to learn what they will be doing next year! Emory is excited that she will get to sit at a desk next year! 

Mother's Day

I have had a wonderful Mother's Day. We went to church then to Lufkin to meet my parents, grandmother and aunt for lunch. We had a great meal and visit!! Plus Emory and Cason both made beautiful things for me that I will cherish always!

 Cason made this picture for me at Ms. Betty's. Apparently he wanted to take his picture on the excavator because it is favorite toy at Ms. Betty's! He was very proud of his picture!

Emory filled out a little questionnaire about me during Sunday school as well as made the beautiful picture below! Her answers crack me up!

Words Words Words

Emory is all about words these days. She loves sounding them out, spelling, and writing words! Yesterday she was writing words on her dry erase board when I overheard her say she was going to write a sentence. I watched her as she sounded out and wrote each word. She wrote "The dog had the dad." all by herself! I am not quite sure how the dog had the dad, but I am sure if I would have asked her she would have had a very creative response! She was very proud of her sentence!
