My Little Gymnast

A few weeks ago Emory switched from ballet to gymnastics. She liked ballet but there were a few older girls in the class and the little ones like Emory were getting left behind, so we decided to switch to gymnastics which is also offered at the recreation center. She LOVES it. Go figure, my fearless child who I found scaling the side of the stairs 9 feet in the air this weekend loves to flip, jump, and hang from bars! Yesterday afternoon I took off from work and took her to her class.
Here she is hanging from the rings. She was able to hang with her knees bent, in a pike, and the splits. She is pint size but strong.
Walking backwards on the beam.
And frontwards.
When they get to the end they get to jump off onto the mat. I think that is Emory's favorite part. She also likes the trampoline. She is also learning how to do a forward roll. I was very proud of how well she listened and followed instructions from her teacher. She did a fantastic job!

11 Months Old

Cason Bradley you are 11 months old today!
You are still wearing 9 and 12 month clothes and a size 4 diaper. You can say mama, dada, hi, uh, here, and tant you (thank you). You still have 8 teeth, but I feel like you will have 9 or 10 real soon. You are starting to stand by yourself for longer periods of time and are almost walking unassisted. You suck your thumb when you get tired and still sleep with your little rump in the air. So cute!
Your favorite new "game" is the thank you game. You say here and hand me something and then I say thank you. Then I say here you go and give you the item back and you say thank you. You have also started to play in your bedroom by yourself. You will crawl to your room and start playing with your blocks or emptying your bookshelf. You also love peek-a-boo and playing your sister's piano.

You love your big sister and follow her around everywhere. You are such a happy little guy and love to smile and laugh. You are very inquisitive and like to explore the house, drawers, and anything else you find! You are such a sweet little boy and we love you very much!

Pine Tree Mishap

This evening we came home to a not so pleasant surprise.
A pine tree fell on the house sometime during the day.
Thankfully it was not a large tree and hit the side of the front porch. It was really windy today and I guess there was at least one strong gust because we had several large branches down too.
There is damage to the side of the house and possibly the roof. We will know more once we get the tree off the house, but per our insurnce company we can not touch anything until the adjuster comes. Hopefully that will be tomorrow.
On a happier note, Cason rode the tricycle for the first time this evening and LOVED it.
Emory brought sand over to the driveway and played. She told me she wanted to make a sand castle but that it wouldn't work. She then tried to talk us into wetting her sand with the water hose so her sand would work. Such a mess!
We then played hide and peek-a-boo behind a tree.
After we came in from outside Cason decided to empty his favorite kitchen drawer. This is a skill that he has mastered, he can empty a drawer in less than 20 seconds!

Photographer Emory

This afternoon on the way home Emory found one of our old camera's that Bradley had in his truck. She quickly figured out how to take pictures and video and went to town! Below are two of her  masterpieces!

Bugs, Valentines, & Serenade's

It has been quite a while since I have posted but a very mean stomach bug and not so fun allergic reaction to CAT scan contrast dye has kept me off the computer. I am feeling much better now and so far no one else in the Cobb clan has caught it.

Monday evening we made cup cakes for Emory and Cason to take to their Valentine's  Day Party at Ms. Betty's.
I also made Valentine goody bags for the kids to take to their friends. Emory was very particular as to who got what Valentine card this year. I still was not feeling 100% on Valentine's Day and did not get any pictures of the kids opening their Valentine presents, but Emory got a pair of rain boots and a MobiOne game and Cason a new shirt, book, and big boy plate.

Tonight after her bath Emory got out her guitar and stool and began putting on a concert. She is so funny when she does this. She sings at the top of her lungs while dancing and playing her guitar.
Sometime she sings songs that she knows and other times she makes them up. Tonight's song was one that she made about skating. SUCH A MESS!

Shoe Shopping

For the past two weeks Emory and I have been butting heads over this pair of shoes.
Emory refuses to wear her tennis shoes because according to her they are old, boring, and do not match any of her clothes. The fact that she is going to Ms. Betty's and will be playing outside in the dirt does not seem to matter to my little fashionista. I will admit that these shoes have been around the block a time or two and are getting on the small side, so I agreed to take Emory shoe shopping when she asked to go yesterday.

This is the pair she chose.
They are bright, sparkly, and even light up when you walk. To say they are loud is an understatement, but she loves them and after all it is just a pair of shoes! She was so funny trying them on and even tried to talk us into buying two pairs of new tennis shoes (a Dora pair also caught her eye). Emory even wanted to pay for them herself. She had some coins in her pocket from her earlier visit to Mimi & Peepaw's and used one of her brown money's (aka a penny) to pay for her shoes. She loved her new shoes so much that she insisted on wearing them home.
Cason thinks they are bright and fun!
This morning after breakfast Emory wanted to put on her new shoes. This was my attempt of trying to take her picture.

This picture has nothing to do with Emory's new shoes but I had to include because he is just so darn cute!
