Summer Fun

Summer is flying by quickly and school will be starting in just a few short weeks. We have had a busy summer, which started off with VBS.
We were shipped wreck this year at VBS and the kids had a blast!
Eli rotated to different groups this year at VBS (not as many as the big kids) and he did a great job! I think art was his favorite. One day he insisted on eating lunch with the sheep he made!!
We have a goat (Snickerdoodle), a heifer (Sharlene), and a steer (Samson), so we have been busy at the barn this summer. Emory has been our chauffeur.
We took the goat and heifer to a prospect show in June. Snickerdoodle placed 3rd in its class and Sharlene won her class and made it to the champion drive. Emory says the judge told her she was 3rd overall in the exotic. There were probably between 20 to 30 in the group so she did a great job!
Cason  grew some muscles!
Emory did a little Hobby Lobby sale shopping with her birthday gift card!
Watching fireworks 4th of July!

We visited Pawpaw and did a little double decker carousel riding!
We have spent quite a few days at the pool too!

3rd & 4th Quarter Report Cards

Cason and Emory's 3rd and 4th quarter report cards. I am just a tad late in posting these...wink wink!!

Academic Awards Ceremony

The week after school got out Emory and Cason both received awards for making all A's all year! They each received a Summa Cum Laude metal. We are super proud of them both!

Last Week of School

Cason's class read Little House in the Big Woods and Little House on the Prairie this year and had a Little House day. They all dressed as characters from the books and had lunch from foods talked about in the books. Cason said it was the best day ever!
They were asked to bring an item that we don't use today and tell about it. Cason brought a big chisel that was used on logs. .
Emory has been learning about the Solar System this year and her end of year Science project included a field trip to the public library to research her assigned planet and then to the SFA Planetarium. Part two of the project was to make a poster and snack representing their planet as well as give a presentation. She decided on taking beans because Venus is made up of layers of gas, thus Venus gassy beans!!
She was so excited and did a great job presenting Venus to her class.
Last day of 1st and 3rd grade!

Soccer

The kids finished up soccer last week. Emory was on the Pink Flames this year and Cason Blue Thunder. They both played well and improved from last year.
Pink Flames after their last game. They won! Emory played goalie during the first half and blocked several goals and then forward during the second half and scored a goal!
Blue Thunder at their last practice! Cason played all positions this year. He blocked may goals and made several too!
After Cason's last game his team had a swim party.
