Junior High Soccer

Emory finished up her JH soccer season at the tournament on October 7th. They did not have a great year in the wins category and had to make many adjustments with one of their key players sidelined for the season due to injury, however they grew as a team and had lots of fun. They ended up coming in 3rd at the end of season tournament. I think Emory played every position at some point this season but goalie. 

Johnny Appleseed Day

Eli dressed up as Johnny Appleseed a few weeks ago to celebrate Johnny Appleseed's birthday! The entire class dressed up and paraded throughout the school singing the Johnny Appleseed song they had learned. Eli said he had fun! He looked awfully cute too! 

 

Magnolia Market

While in Waco we went and checked out the Magnolia Market and Silo's. We played a few games, did a little shopping and looked around. It was so hot out and after about an hour we were ready to leave and cool off. 

The sun was too bright for open eyes!

Back at the hotel the kids cooled off by going swimming at the pool and then we went to dinner at Cracker Barrel and did a little sightseeing before heading back to the hotel. It was great to go somewhere for a few days and I think everyone had fun! 

Dr. Pepper Museum

After the Ranger Museum we headed over to the Dr. Pepper Museum. This was my favorite place we went to in Waco and I do not even like Dr. Pepper. Cason is my only Dr. Pepper drinking kid and he loved it, he also loves history, so it was a win win for him! We learned how Dr. Pepper was invented and how it was first bottled and distributed. 

The original soda fountain and counter is still there from when the building was a drug store. 

Cason found his new motto! 

Eli invented his own soda by drinking Sprite and Dr. Pepper at the same time. Stepping into the Soda Shop was like stepping back into the 1950's. You could choose from a fountain drink or a float. 

Texas Ranger Hall of Fame and Museum

Saturday morning we left Glen Rose and headed to Waco. Along the way we saw s group of wild turkeys and a herd of Belted Galloway cows! Our first stop in Waco was the Texas Ranger Hall of Fame and Museum. 

 This sign hung in the gift shop and made me laugh!

We learned a great deal about the history of the Texas Rangers. 

Acton Historical Site and Cemetery

When planning our little weekend vacay, we learned that Davy Crockett's second wife was buried near Glen Rose, just outside of Granbury. Cason, being the history nut that he is, of course wanted to go. The Acton Cemetery is very old, with many old graves. Some of the graves were barely readable and some time had taken its toll on the stone.

 After walking around for a while we headed in to Granbury for dinner. It was a long and hot first day, but we had fun! 

Dinosaur World

After leaving Dinosaur Valley State Park we headed down the road to Dinosaur World. There we mined for gems, visited the museum, looked at all the dinosaurs, fed the 1000 coy fish and turtles and played on the playground. 

We used this card to determine which types of gems we found. 

This was dinosaur was part of the playground and Cason said he was its lunch! 

We hatched an Eli! 

After Dinosaur World we headed back to the hotel to cool off and rest.
