The Beach

After Space Center Houston we headed further south to the beach. We stayed down in Jamaica Beach and it was great. Not crowded at all and the beach was clean and pretty.
Our villa was on the 3rd floor and we had great views of the bay.
The villa was huge with two bedrooms and bathrooms plus the living areas. It was like an apartment.
Another view of the bay. From the back desk you could see the gulf.
Friday evening we went to Galveston for dinner at Chick-fil-a on the seawall. After we walked down to the beach and the kids played in the water.
The water was pretty rough while we were there.
The next morning after an early breakfast at the villa we headed across the street to the beach. It was just us and few joggers for a long time. We stayed at the beach for several hours before heading back to the villa for lunch. After lunch we drove into Galveston and checked out the strand. We did a little shopping and Bradley and the kids had a sweet treat at La King's. I was glad they still had the old ice cream chairs and tables I remember from when I was a kid. We headed over to the mainland for dinner (not many options in Galveston for Cason) and checked out a few stores while over there too. Then that evening we spent more time on the beach swimming and collecting tons of hermit crabs. Cason had a "herd" of them.

We found several of these blue eye jelly fish floating in the water Saturday evening.
Lots hermit crabs were caught and released.

Cason found a fishing pole for wieners and marshmallows. Of course he bought it.
On the steps of La Kings!
The Coast Guard flew right over us twice making their morning run down the coast. We had a great time at the beach!

Space Center Houston

The Friday the week school got out we headed south for a little getaway. We started the trip at Space Center Houston. It has been years since I was there and the kids had never been.
A giant meteorite that fell in Kansas
Cason thought the toilet was hilarious!
Standing under the airplane and shuttle looking up.
Emory thought this shirt was hilarious and of course bought it.

The Lunar Rover. We took a picture in honor of my grandfather who was a mechanic on the prototype.
SpaceX Rocket

Nothing like wieners and rocket ships!

We had a good time checking out Space Center Houston!

His diploma!
Mrs. Duke's famous Summer Bucket of fun!

Frankenstein

The upper schools (7th -12th) drama class performed an adaptation of Frankenstein this year. Emory had one of the larger roles, playing Elizabeth. She did a great job despite not feeling well and have two Benadryl in her system.

She was not a fan of the itchy uncomfortable dresses!

Athletic Banquet

Emory received the Most Improved Player award in Junior High Girls Basketball. She was super surprised. She wasn't going to play basketball this year, but the team is pretty convincing and talked her in to it. I think she is glad she played, she had lots of fun this year and learned a lot!

Cason's Hog Trap

After the boys last soccer game we came home to check out Cason's new hog trap. He tried to buy one at the fair last year, but they all went really high. Shane told him he would build him one and Cason has been waiting for it to be completed ever since.

Soccer: That's A Wrap

The boys soccer season finished up two weeks ago. Cason's team (the Cyclones) went undefeated and came in first in the league for that age group. Eli's team (the Blue Sharks) finished somewhere in the middle winning some and losing some. Both boys scored several goals and played great.
