Little House on the Prairie Day

Yesterday was Little House on the Prairie Day at Millard's Crossing for first grade and Eli had a blast experiencing things from the "olden day" as he put it. He really enjoyed reading the book in school and had a blast at Millard's crossing. 

Getting to experience an old school house, complete with feather pens and ink, which he though was quite messy! 

Learning all about how much it took to make butter. They got to make some and taste it too!

After their visit to Millard's Crossing the kids headed back to school and watched the movie. I love how Mrs. Chapman decorated their desk like a covered wagon. So cute and they all loved it!

Eli and Cason both played city soccer this year. Eli was on the Crusaders and Cason played his last year on the Cyclones. 

Eli had a flat tire during practice one evening and his coach had to zip tie his cleats together. Thankfully we had another pair at home that fit!

Nacogdoches County Steer Show

We kicked off the Nacogdoches County Steer Show Thursday with Emory and Tater winning Reserve Champion Senior Showman. We were super proud of her because this was her first time in the senior division since turning 14 in January and was one of if not the youngest.

The steer show was Friday morning with both Cason and Emory doing well. Cason and George II were Champion English steer and Emory and Tater were Reserve Champion Charolais steer. Cason placed 3rd overall and Emory 4th. 

Momma messed up and handed Cooper Emory's 2nd place ribbon instead of Cason's first place!

Happy Birthday Eli

Eli turned 7 years old today and got to miss school and go to the Nacogdoches County Steer Show! They announced it was his birthday over the loud speaker during the show and he was super excited about that! Here he is smiling big during the announcement. 

I really can't believe you are already 7 years old and about to complete first grade. Things you currently love are: soccer, the Astros, baseball cards, playing chess, tractors, fishing, chicken nuggets, and people. You're a people person for sure! Your best friends are Char, Abram and Henry. 

You often crack yourself up and when you get the giggles they are contagious. You favorite subject besides PE is math. You are always listening and there is not much that you miss. You have quite the memory too!

Happy Birthday Cason

 Yesterday Cason turned 12! We celebrated Monday evening because soccer takes over our lives this time of year on Tuesday's. From his 1st birthday to his 12th, still blond, blue eyed and smiling! 

HLSR 2023

 Last week we spent the remainder of Spring Break at HLSR for the Shorthorn Heifer Show. Bradley, Emory, and Cason headed to Houston Wednesday evening, getting into the barn about 4:00 Thursday morning. Eli and I headed down Thursday morning, taking a Chuck E. Cheese pit stop before checking in to the hotel room and then heading over to the NRG Arena. Emory and Ellie didn't show until Saturday morning, so there was a lot of hanging out in the barn, watching other breeds show, and walking around.

Cason invented barn golf. He fashioned a golf club out of trash and duct tape!

Emory was in Class 8. There were about 20 in her class and she finished 4th!

It took Bradley and Emory nearly 3 hours to go and get the trailer, which was parked a few miles down the road.

We had a great time and made many memories. I also believe Emory is hooked on showing at Houston.
