Corpus Christi Part 2

This afternoon we headed to the beach. We first went to North Beach which is just a few minutes from our hotel but it was infested with jelly fish. They were everywhere, on the beach and in the water. Thankfully the good Lord was watching over Emory and Bradley who were all ready in the water before I noticed all the little visitors and no one was stung. We then packed up and headed back to Padre Island which is just a twenty minute drive from our hotel.

Thankfully there were no jelly fish there and the kids had a blast swimming and making sand castles.

Padre Island or Upper Padre as it is also called is pretty. It isn't Florida but much better then Galveston....the water actually looks blue.

 We of course saw seagulls as well as several pelicans (those are pelicans flying in the picture). I enjoyed watching them dive down for food.

We had a great time at the beach this afternoon. It was not crowded or full of crazed party goers, it was actually very peaceful and calm, which is the way I like it! 

The USS Lexington

Today we went to the USS Lexington and I learned that I could NEVER live on an aircraft carrier or any other big ship for that matter. It is too stinky, too big, and has too many steep stairs. Not to mention the quarters are tight. I have a whole new appreciation for those that have and do serve our country on one of these.

Maybe these can put into perspective just how big this ship is.

It is massive and has everything. Basically it is a floating town with a dentist, doctor's office, hospital, and even a post office. Emory of course had to tinkle while on board, but now she can say she used the head on an aircraft carrier! 

Corpus Crispy Part 1

No that is not a typo in the title, Emory thought Corpus Christi was called Corpus Crispy! Bradley's annual conference is in Corpus this year so we of course tagged along and are having a vacation too!

Cason and Emory were exhausted after the aquarium and needed a good nap.

After naps we headed over to the Bradley's conference so he could get registered. We also checked out all the exhibits and the pig trailers. I think Emory was impressed.

Later that evening we drove over to Padre Island and played on the beach. We decided to drive over during dinner so we did not have our swimsuits.

That did not stop the kids from having fun.

Before long they were both soaking wet from playing in the waves! Thank goodness our beach towels were still in the car.

Texas State Aquarium

Today was our first full day in Corpus Christi and we went to the Texas State Aquarium. They had fish, turtles, and all sorts of sea creatures. Plus a dolphin show and splash park! The kids had a blast! As you can see in the picture below Cason is in his boots. He loves his boots, he even wore them when we walked on the beach yesterday evening. I did not have my good camera but was able to capture memories with my camera phone!

The Dump Truck

A few weeks ago Peepaw bought a new to him dump truck or as Cason says a BIG DUMP TRUCK! Cason is in LOVE with it. He loves going for rides around the farm in it.

Emory and Cason driving the dump truck. Do you see Cason's hat? He is all about wearing one of his  cowboy hats and his boots right now. He wears his boots with everything, even shorts. I fully expect him to wear them at the beach when we go.  

Some of Mimi's chickens. A few have started laying eggs already and Emory has been collecting them. She is an excellent egg finder!
