Snow Day

Yesterday evening a little after 5:00 it started snowing!

 The kids went outside and ran around trying to catch snowflakes on their tongues.

After a little while it was time to come in and eat dinner. While we were eating it really started coming down, so after dinner we went back outside to play a little more.

It was still snowing when I went to bed last night but had slacked up quite a bit.

Emory's school cancelled classes for the day and Bradley's delayed until 10:00. So we bundled up a little after 7:00 and headed out.

Emory loved it. She kept saying, "God knew I have been wanting it to snow so he sent me some!" 

Emory and I walked down to the pasture to check on the horses who were busy eating hay. We then walked around for a little while checking everything out. 

Cason liked the snow too but was not a fan of the cold. He stayed out for a little while but then wanted to go inside because he was freezing.

There are still a few patches of snow here and there but for the most part it has melted. It was exciting and pretty while it lasted!!

Hard Hats & Roller Skates

As soon as we got home from her party Emory wanted to put on her new roller skates that Bradley and I got her. She has been wanting a pair of roller skates for about a year now and was thrilled to get them. She also decided to wear her new pink hard hat that Mimi and Peepaw got her. Leave it to Emory to roller skate in a pink hard hat, but at least she matched!!

Tinkerbell Birthday Party

Saturday we celebrated Emory's 5th birthday with a big kid birthday party (as she called it). This was her first party away from home and with a few of her friends. We had it a one of the bounce house places in town and she had a blast.  

 The kids had three big bounce houses to play in plus several ride toys. It was CRAZY!

She picked it out all by herself.  I am glad I took a picture when it was still in the box because as soon as I took it out Cason made a bee line for it and in went his hand.

See the bottom left messed up corner. Thankfully it was not too bad and I was able to get some of the purple icing off the white.

Emory and all her friends had a wonderful time at her first big kid party! 

5 Year Check Up

Today was Emory's 5 year old check up!

She weighs 38.4 lbs (41st percentile) and is 44 inches tall (80th percentile). Dr. Huggins teased that this was the first time she has ever weighed in so high of a percentile! Her score also fell on the BMI scale this time instead of falling below and in the malnourished section! We are making progress! She had to have blood drawn which she was not to thrilled about but both her iron and cholesterol tests came back great (apparently they are now checking cholesterol levels in kids). She also managed to talk her way into getting 4 princess stickers and proudly showed Dr. Huggins her two big girl teeth! 

5 Years Old

Emory Grace you are five years old today!

Happy Birthday!!

You love swinging, riding your bike and scooter, bubble baths, Oreo blizzards, horses, art projects, and shopping.



You love playing board games, cards, and dominoes. You also love puzzles, singing, and playing make believe with Cason. You insisted on taking your training wheels off your bicycle yesterday (before turning 5) and did really well for the first time riding on two wheels! 

You love being outside and you are not afraid to get dirty. You also love to help feed the horses and gather eggs. 

You are a little sponge when it comes to learning and enjoy school. You started reading the first series of BOB books just before Christmas and I can't believe how quickly you were able to sound out the words and read! You also have quite the memory and never forget anything!



I love your little laugh, especially when you get the giggles. It is contagious and we can't help and laugh too. 

Your favorite foods are green beans, stick together mac-n-cheese (homemade), beef tips and rice, and my homemade vegetable soup! You also LOVE apple pie!!!

You have had a stubborn streak since the day you were born and your are also a little dramatic at times. Your Daddy teases you and says you get that from me! Your favorite come back once in trouble is "but Mom" or "but Daddy" and then you plead your case as to why you really should not be in trouble. 

You are also very inquisitive and always want to know why or how something works.



You are my silly little goose and I love you with all my heart!

Emory's School Work

A few of Emory's recent worksheets and art work from school.

The picture Emory drew above is a picture of her on sticks (not sure what kind) standing next to a tree. The two lines coming off the sticks are there to hold them up. There is a flower by the tree and grass and berries (the green and pink squiggly lines). Emory says the orange thing in the sky is a bird getting hit by a rocket and the yellow line is the rocket fire. The bird was not hurt by the rocket for those that are concerned about the bird!

Christmas Art Work

Even though Emory and Cason were sick with the flu the entire week before Christmas they were able to still participate in a few fun art projects.

Emory made this beautiful Christmas tree at school. Mrs. Duke told me that Emory insisted on adding water to the picture (the blue line at the bottom of the tree). Mrs. Duke said that Emory told her that trees needed water too you know! Needless to say Mrs. Duke got tickled. 

Cason "made" this ornament at Ms. Betty's. He told me he stuck the circles on.

Emory made this picture at church and I think she did a fantastic job!
