Fictional Character Day

Today is Fictional Character Day at school!
Eli went as Old McDonald, Cason Joe Hardy from the Hardy Boys, and Emory one of the Three Blind Mice. Two of Emory's friends were dressing as the other blind mice. Cason took along his Hardy Boys book to prove he was in fact Joe and not Cason. He said he was going for comfortable this year!

FBC Fall Fest

This year because of COVID our FBC Fall Fest looked a little different. Unable to have hundreds of people in the building we were not able to invite the public and had to take the fun outside. We had a trunk or treat with families scheduling a time to arrive and walk through to keep the numbers down. The weather was dreary and wet but the kids still had fun seeing all the different trunks and of course getting lots of candy.
Eli and Cate (AKA Dori) He was a little hesitant standing next to Dori, even though we told him it was Cate dressed as a fish. Eli went as a deer hunter this year, that would be the end of his gun sticking out from behind his head!
Cason and Weston.

The OCC trunk!!
Emory worked the Merge (6th grade) trunk and helped pass out candy. They all dressed as characters from the Bible to go along with their theme.
We had around 30 trunks to visit, but because of the rain I was wasn't able to get many pictures.

Piney Woods Fair- Goat Show

Friday morning was the goat show at the fair. The show started off with showmanship and this year both Cason and Emory participated. They both did great and were pulled out and in the top 5. Emory won grand champion junior showman and Cason placed top 5 in his first showmanship. They both did great and we were super proud of them both!

Emory during the goat show. She was in a tough class and placed 3rd in class and was 6th overall.
Emory won this buckle and $40 in cash in junior showmanship.
While waiting to go in the ring Skittles took a bite out of Emory's number, he is always hungry. Overall we had a great fair week with both kids making the premium sale with their chickens and goats!

Piney Woods Fair - Chicken Show

Last week was the Piney Woods Fair, however due to COVID the only part of the fair that occurred was the livestock show. Even it was scaled way back, with the public not able to come watch. Wednesday was the chicken show and both Cason and Emory showed chickens this year. Cason placed 4th overall and Emory 16th, with both kids making the premium sale!

I was helping Emory hold her chickens and wasn't able to take any pictures of her showing, however I was able to snap this one picture of Cason when everyone but the top 4 left the ring.

A friend sent me this picture from the premium sale. Pilgrims bought Cason chickens. He is holding the buyers gift we brought. A chicken cookie jar full of cookies!

Junior High Soccer

Last Thursday the Junior High soccer team finished up their season with an all day tournament at LeTourneau University. Their first game started at 8:30 AM and their last ended at 3:30 PM, so there was A LOT of soccer in a small amount of time. They won 2 games and lost 2 games, finishing 4th in the tournament.  Below is their team picture after the last game of the tournament!
Emory played every position but goalie this season. She even scored a goal during one game!

Silly group picture after their first game in the tournament, it was a WIN!
Shots from different games during the season.

Because of COVID the season had fewer games this year, but Emory had fun and learned a lot!

Nac Steer Show Swag

The Nacogdoches Steer Show was cancelled back in March due to COVID-19, however this past Thursday all the kids who were not able to show their steers were presented with a one of a kind buckle, thanks to several businesses.
