Diva & Doctors

Last night after Emory had her bath she decided she needed to wear her sunglasses. She wore them while she played, while she measured her container full of Easter eggs, and while she watched her movie.

I had my 2 week check-up with my doctor today and wanted to get a picture of him with Cason. Cason was hungry and not in the mood for getting his picture taken. This was the best one.

First Bath

Cason had his first bath last night and did surprisingly well. Other than a few horrible faces he was pretty calm and laid back during his bath. I am still getting use to having a boy and the spray factor that comes with them! Let's just say he nearly sprayed the whole kitchen, thank goodness the wash cloth was close by!

His big sister on the other hand did not enjoy her first bath. I think they look alike, but I may be the only one in the family that thinks so. It is hard to tell in these pictures because Emory is screaming so. I will have to post some age comparison pictures later. You can really tell his size compared to Emory at this age. There is about a 2.5 lbs difference and Cason is about an inch in-a-half longer. Note: The dates on Emory's pictures are way off.

Cason's Two Week Check-up

Cason had his two week check-up today. He weighed 9 lbs 9 ounces and is 21.5 inches long. He is wearing a size 1 diaper and although he is a big boy he is still in newborn and 0-3 months clothes. His umbilical cord fell off sometime during the night Saturday, so he will be getting his first bath tonight! He did not get a bath last night because it was not a clean break and I wanted his doctor to look at it. He has what they call a granuloma which she treated and gave us the all clear for a bath! After his check-up we headed over to the hospital to have his 2nd PKU test done, which he did not like. Poor baby! He was pretty worn out from today's adventures, so after a change into some comfy clothes and a full belly, he was out!

The Entertainer

Sunday our little entertainer put on quite the show. First she sang us an original number she named "microphone" which basically went microphone microphone microphone. She sings into her portable DVD player cord which she calls her "microphone." She then did a fine rendition of the wheels on the bus before deciding she needed to put on one of her tutu's and dance and turn "flips."

Turning a "flip"

Dancing on her bed! Such a MESS!

Our Two Little Ones

Things around our house are finally starting to resemble some sort of normalcy. We are getting the hang of having 2 little ones and I am learning to just let some things go. Like last night when Emory decided to relocate her potty chair from her bathroom to the living room and then proceeded to try and use it. I was feeding Cason at the time and Bradley was outside mowing, so I just went with it. Thankfully she decided that the potty chair could return to its rightful spot in the bathroom. Emory's new favorite phrase is "that's silly." Everything and everyone is silly these days. She also wants every toy she sees on TV commercials and she is just barely 2! She is doing really well with having a new brother and has not had a major meltdown in several days. Cason is a very laid back go with the flow baby. He is a great eater, sleeps well, and does not mind just hanging out in his bouncy chair, which is the complete opposite of Emory at this age. He is also very strong and rolled over at just one week old. Granted it was an assisted roll over as he was laying on a pillow, but he still rolled. He can also scoot really well and turned a 180 degree turn one day last week. We go for his two week appointment on Monday and fully expect him to weigh 10lbs. When he was born my doctor called him a little line backer as he delivered him. I know he is a big baby, but he still seems small to me. I tried to take some pictures of him this week because I feel like I am already slacking in that department with Cason compared to Emory and I am determined not to let that happen. He is such a rollie pollie! His eyes are still a smokey grey blue color. I really feel like they will turn brown eventually, just because they are such a deep dark blue.

5 Days Old

Cason is 5 days old today and had his first doctors visit. He weighs 9 lbs 2 ounces and is 21 inches long. He still has a touch of jaundice but nothing to get concerned about and got a great report from Dr. Huggins. So far he continues to be a very easy going baby. He sleeps well which is a huge blessing and is a big eater. Our first night home was a bit of an ordeal due to Emory having stomach issues and getting sick 10 plus times during the night and early morning. By lunch yesterday she was feeling much better and wanting to eat and play and has not had any trouble since. Hopefully no one else will get whatever bug she had. She is adjusting really well to having a brother. We have had a couple of meltdowns and moments of jealousy but overall she has done extremely well and has been a big help! I decided to try and take some pictures of Cason this afternoon, however he had other ideas. After a break I was able to take a few pictures. He has the cutest chubby cheeks, just like a little chipmunk!

Sisterly Love

Emory is being a great big sister. She is already very protective of Cason and gets very concerned when the nurses come and take him to the nursery for his check-ups. She has been wanting to hold him all morning and refers to him as HER brother or HER baby and I dare anyone to tell her differently. Cason is doing great and so far is a very easy going baby. His jaundice scan came back showing he had a slight case and now we are waiting on the blood results. If it confirms the scan results then he will have to spend some time under the lights. The nurse just came in and the blood test results were lower than the scan, so no lights for Cason.
Holding Cason for the first time.

Giving him sugar!

I thought this picture was sweet. She just kept patting his head and talking to him.
