Our Little Patient

Emory had surgery this morning to remove her tonsils and adenoids. We had to be there at 6:45 and she went back a little before 8:00. She was a very brave little girl and did fantastic!
Emory thought her hospital gown was silly because it tied in the back. Here she is before her surgery and before the "loopy" medicine kicked in. Once it kicked in she was hilarious and had everyone laughing, including the nurses and anesthesiologist. Bradley's dad had been there for about 10 minutes and was coloring with Emory when she goes "Peepaw how'd you get back there?" Then she looks up and asks us if her tonsils were out yet. She forgot her numbers for a minute but then remembered them and decided to sing a song about them. She was in rare form and out of it! Her surgery was about 40 minutes and went very well with very little bleeding. She was pretty upset when she came out from under the anesthesia but after a little pain medicine she fell back asleep and woke up feeling much better.
Once we were home Mimi came over and surprised her with a balloon bouquet and doctor bear. She was able to eat and drink a little something and has enjoyed her "bell," (one of her metal pots and a wooden spoon), which she is using to call us. She might be enjoying it a little too much!
I am so glad that is over and thankful she did great throughout the entire procedure. Hopefully her recovery will continue to go smoothly and she will be feeling like herself again soon!
Get well Emory!

23 Months

Cason Bradley you turned 23 months old yesterday!
You are still wearing size 18-24 months, a size 6 shoe, and a size 5 diaper. You are an absolute hoot! You love to dance, sit on the counter top, play outside, and watch DoeRA (Dora)! Some things that you are doing that just make me smile include; say AMEN after the prayer and tell me to sit by patting the seat and saying "sit mama, sit." I also love watching you play with your cars and trucks. You make the cutest sound affects that are actually very accurate. Your favorite books right now are Spot the Dog and John Deere Tractor. You call all meat sausage. You want to do anything and everything Emory does and are typically one step behind her at all times.
You are a very sweet little boy, always giving kisses and hugs. I love it when you tell me that you wuv me and blow me kisses. You are also strong willed and do not like not getting your way but you are learning. You have recently taken an interest in counting things and say your numbers the cutest little way! Next month you will be two years old, which doesn't even seem possible. I can't wait to see how much you grow and change in the year to come, but you will always be my baby boy!

My Little Monkey

Well it's official, Cason thinks he's a monkey! He loves to climb, jump, flip, and leap. You name it he can climb it in our house.
This is how I found him last Saturday, he was sitting on the coffee table in the pampers box watching TV.
He also loves to climb up our bed and flip over onto the mattress.
Who needs bar stools when you can sit on the counter. I have to stay on his heels at all times, which is hard because he is quick, curious, and determined.

Cason took his first shower on Tuesday. He was a little scared of the water and would not stand underneath it, but he loved it and had a blast. I know his booty is showing in this picture but I had to include because his little pot belly is just too cute!

Birthday's & Valentines

We have had a busy week! Tuesday we celebrated Bradley's 35th birthday with dinner out with Mimi and Peepaw. Later that night Emory got upset because she wanted to buy Bradley a superman birthday cake from Wal-Mart. It was oh so dramatic but she was truly upset because Daddy did not have a real birthday cake (we had made a cake from a mix but it was not decorated therefore not real). So Wednesday Emory and Mimi went to work. Emory decided that a farmer cake would suffice this year (next year she IS getting him a superman cake) and did a great job decorating it for her Daddy. She was very very proud of her cake.
Wednesday night Emory helped me bake cookies for her and Cason's Valentines party. Creativity was not flowing through me this year when it came to Valentines, but I doubt the kids really cared.  So this is what Cason and Emory gave to their friends this year!
Ms. Betty said they both had a blast at the party and they came home with lots of goodies! That evening they opened their presents from Bradley and I.
The both got new summer pj's, cups, and candy. Emory got a new magical wand and Cason a coloring book.
Cason going in for the candy. He loves his sweets!
Here are a few of the valentines the kids received from their friends!

Little Lincoln

Andrew and Rachel welcomed their newest addition February 1, 2013. Lincoln Andrew Contreras arrived at 11:08 pm. He was 6 lbs 11oz and was 19.5 inches!

Emory and I headed south to meet little Lincoln and visit with Rachel, Andrew, and Miss Mckenzie Wednesday. The girls had a blasts playing!
 Emory in mid jump!
Crazy Hair!

Lincoln is a great baby! He was 25 days early so at this point he is doing what he would have been doing in Rachel's belly...sleeping and eating! I did manage to see his eyes a few times and they appear to be a dark blue. He is tiny and just precious. Despite coming early and having a heart condition, our prayers were answered and Lincoln arrived breathing on his own and did not require a trip to the NICU or open heart surgery immediately following his birth!

His big sis was not in the mood to take a picture, but she is doing a fantastic job in her new role! She is very caring towards him, often patting his little head gently. I think she is going to be a fantastic big sister! We plan on going back for another visit soon with Bradley and Cason this time.

22 Months

Cason Bradley you are 22 months old today!
You are still wearing a size 18 month, size 6 shoe, and size 5 diaper.  You are such a big boy now with a mind all your own. Your vocabulary has grown too and you have really started to talk in sentences this past month. I think your favorite word is still mama with no mama coming in a close second.
You are a fantastic eater and love most foods. I think your favorites right now are cereal bars, cheese, grapes, and french fries. McDonald's is probably your favorite restaurant because whenever we pass one you yell french fries! You are eating with a fork and spoon and will bring us food from the refrigerator or pantry when hungry for a snack.
You are the sweetest little boy. The other night you ran up to daddy, wrapped your arms around him and told him you wuved him just because! You love to give hugs and kisses and always tell me bye bye when going somewhere with daddy. You have also started saying thank you without any cues which makes me very happy and proud! You do have a stubborn streak and are not a fan of not getting your way. Tonight you did not want me to take your picture. After several "no cheese mama's" you got upset and started crying until I put away the camera.
You love playing with your tools, cars, and balls. You have quite an arm and can really throw the ball far for such a little thing. You adore your sister and are usually always two steps behind her. I can't believe you are almost 2 years old. I love you very much Cason!

Four Year Olds

Emory Grace has been in rare form lately. She has an answer for everything these days and her drama meter is through the roof. Not to mention the daily reminders that she is four and four year olds can ____________ (fill in the blank). I thought I should document some of the "discussions" we have been having around our house lately because although naughty she is down right funny.
One night last week Emory did not want to go to bed and came up with every excuse in the book as to why she could not go to sleep. Some of my favorites were:
* She could not go to sleep because she took to long a nap at Ms. Betty's.
* She could not lay down because her pillow was too cheap.
*She could not go to sleep because she does not like being alone.
Then Friday she came home in tears because her daddy would not let her have a credit card. Oh the drama. She went on and on how four year olds are old enough to have a credit card in their wallet. Four year olds are also old enough to eat with "big" silverware, plates, and cups; not hold hands in the parking lot; fix their own hair; and get dressed all by themselves. And so it begins, the eagerness to grow up too fast.
