Catch Up

Long time no blog! It has been quite the week in a half. I mentioned in my last post that Cason woke up two Saturdays ago sneezing and with a running nose. Well I caught his cold first. It hit me hard last Monday morning and by 2:15 I was headed home and to bed. That is where I stayed all day Tuesday until Bradley came home with IT that afternoon. Also last Tuesday Mimi’s dog Honey died of old age. Emory knows that Honey died but she of course can’t conceptualize what that means. She asked us for a few days why Honey died, but now just brings it up when she goes to Mimi’s house. She did tell me the other day that she missed Honey and wanted to draw a picture of her. I feel like she has handled Honey’s death well, or as well as a 2 ½ year old can.

I still was not feeling all that great Wednesday but had a meeting I had to go to, so I managed to drag myself to work. By Friday Bradley and I were feeling better. I still was horse and had a cough, but thought I was on my way back to 100%. Saturday Emory and I went grocery shopping and then came home and played and did a little cleaning. By that evening I was feeling horrible and running a fever. Sunday it was worse, so I drug myself to the doctor Monday morning and learned I had strep throat and bronchitis. One painful penicillin shot later and $69 worth of medications I am finally starting to feel better. Now I just pray that no one else in the Cobb clan catches any of it! And that is why I have not blogged in nearly two weeks! I did manage to take a few pictures.

Cason tried out his high chair for the first time last week and Emory made sure that he had plenty of toys to chew on. Still no teeth, ugh!

This was the best picture I could get of them. I tried and tired to get them both to look at me, but it was not happening. Emory brought her stool over by his highchair to play with him.

One night last week Cason fell asleep while having his bottle. I put him in his chair while I went to get ready for bed, but did not strap him in because Bradley was right there and I was afraid I would wake him. When I came back Bradley showed me this picture. He is our little rollie pollie.

Saturday before my fever hit I was doing a little vacuuming under the couch cushions and Emory decided to build a "water slide" with the cushions and pillows.

She then decided to jump from the couch onto the "trampoline" (the water slide was now a trampoline) and ended up doing a cheek first dive into the coffee table. Here she is with frosty bear and Dot just after the tears stopped.

Cason tried sweet potatoes Sunday evening and loved them. He has also decided that peas are not so bad either!

I had the camera ready in case Cason made a silly face after trying sweet potatoes, but since he didn't Emory gave me one!

Fashionista

Last night Emory felt the need to be independent and HAD to pick out her pj's by herself. She choose a nightgown and a pair of Minnie mouse pj bottoms. Now these two items do not match, nor do they go together, but this is what she wore to bed. It was too late to attempt a picture of this fine ensemble last night, so I tried to take one this morning. Emory on the other hand was not interested in getting her picture taken and instead wanted to ride Yeller.

So here she is riding Yeller (all of her horses are named Yeller just like her real horse) NOT looking at the camera. I continued to coax a picture out of her by telling her that Grandma wanted me to send a new picture of her. Emory told me that Grandma did not want a picture and proceeded to call her on her toy phone.

Here she is calling Grandma on her phone. She then proceeded to tell Grandma that she did not need a picture of her. Notice she now has on her cowboy girl boots, BECAUSE you can not ride Yeller without your boots on. Emory's words not mine! Back to the phone call. Emory told Grandma very matter-of-factly, "no picture, I riding Yeller."

I finally was able to get a smile out of her sometime later!

I bought two of the backless picture frames at Hobby Lobby the other day and this morning Bradley put the backs and wall hangers on them for me. Emory loves helping her Daddy "work" and had to get out her toolbox and tools. She got a pint size toolbox and tools a few weeks ago while shopping with her Daddy at Lowes. She saw them and HAD to have them and of course her Daddy got them for her.

So here she is "working" with her hammer. Her garbies (aka Barbie dolls ) were watching her work.
Cason woke up this morning sneezing and with a running nose. He has not felt all that great today but did have some fun in his exersaucer. He LOVES his exersaucer.

He is still a little drool machine, hence the wet spot on his clothes. Hopefully his nose will stop running and he will start to feel better soon!

Firsts

We have had several firsts in our household today. The day started off with me finding Cason on his belly not his back this morning. He apparently woke up and turned over at some point during the night. He did sleep through the night last night and I am wondering if it had anything to do with his sleeping on his belly. Especially since this was just the third or fourth time he has slept through the night. He pulled the same stunt during his nap this afternoon. I laid him down on his back and he wasted no time in rolling over to his belly. Emory was the same way. Just as soon as she figured out she could roll over that was the end of her sleeping on her back.
Cason napping this afternoon. Not only did he roll over but he scooted sideways!

Cason is very talented, he can roll over while sucking on his thumb. I am afraid I have a thumb sucker on my hands!

He was a little startled due to his rolling so close to the chair.

Giving me a big grin while playing with his toy.

Then he got the giggles. His little laugh is so cute!

Big sister woke up from her nap and joined in on the fun. Emory's hair is a mess in this picture. She had a major case of bed head hair!

Her teddy bear was riding Cason like a horsee in this picture.

Then she decided she needed to read Cason a story. She told me that it was story time and to shh! We spent most of the afternoon playing on the blanket.

Cason has been eating his cereal really well for the last week so tonight we tried peas. He was not a fan. We ended up having to mix cereal in with the peas to get him to eat them. I am not sure if he does not like the taste or the fact that they were different. I guess we will just have to see what he thinks about them tomorrow!

Waiting to eat his peas!

His first bite.

He was not a fan.

Bye Bye Bouncy

I think it is time to put up the bouncy chair since Cason now thinks it is cool to sit up in it rather then lay back!!! Bye bye bouncy!!!

4 Month Check-up

Cason had his 4 month check-up today and weighed 16lbs 4 ounces (65 %) and is 25.5 inches long (63 %). I thought he had slowed down in the weight department, having been in the 90th percentile at 2 months, because he is still wearing the same clothes now he was then! Dr. Huggins could not believe how tall he had grown in 2 months, growing 2.25 inches. She also confirmed what we already knew in that he is teething. His bottom gums are swollen so hopefully he will have a tooth or teeth in a few weeks and get some relief. Dr. Huggins did not think the hemangioma on his cheek had grown any, so maybe it has stopped growing for good and will soon start to go away. Other then a little hemangioma, Cason is a healthy happy baby, which I am so thankful for!

He is always smiling!

He has learned how to suck his thumb!

He has also discovered the toys on his exersaucer and tries to put them in his mouth!

He can go from laying to sitting up all by himself now. He just can't sit for very long (unassisted) yet.

Going to the Chapel

Last night Cason and Emory attended their first wedding and both did great!!

The new Mr. & Mrs., Crystal and Bo. Crystal's dress was very pretty and she looked beautiful. Emory was just in love with Crystal's "tutu!" Their wedding colors were chocolate and pink and Bo wore a pink vest in honor of his mother who passed away from breast cancer. I thought that was such a sweet and wonderful way to remember his mother.

Greg (Crystal's dad) and dad.

Emory loved all the Christmas lights!

I think Emory was hiding in this picture.

Buckled up and ready to go home. Emory had a fun time at her first wedding.

Cowboy Girl

This afternoon after we got home Emory wanted to wear her cowboy girl gear with her new cowboy hat. This vest was mine when I was little and the belt and boots are hand-me-downs from her cousin Noah. I love how she says cowboy girl! She is so funny and will correct you if you say cowgirl!

This ensemble just makes me laugh! Don't you think the baby doll and diaper bag complete the look?!!
