15 Months Old

Cason Bradley you are 15 months old today!
Your are wearing size 12-18 months clothes, a size 4 shoe, and a size 5 diaper.  You can say mama, dada, bye bye, hi, ball, uh oh, here, baba (cup), mmm, thank you, that, uh uh, and your new favorite mine. I think you said dog the other day, which sounded more like daaag, but that one is still questionable.
You love most foods. Rice is the only thing we have found that you are not completely in love with. I think your uncertainty is more of a texture thing rather than taste so you will likely outgrow it. You are everywhere and into everything. You have started throwing temper tantrums when you do not get your way, which usually involves you throwing yourself on the floor and pitching a good fit.
You love to climb and are very good at it. You have also learned how to get down off the bed and couch which I am very thrilled about! You are a little drool machine again so I feel you are working on tooth number 13. You love to play with your sister but do not always like to share. (That goes for your big sis too). You love to give kisses and hugs, go bye bye, and play outside. You are such a sweet little boy and I am so thankful to have you as my son.

Ice Cream Treat

Last night after dinner Cason enjoyed his first ice cream sandwhich and he loved it! Tonight he had half of another and I snapped a few pictures.

He has a sweet tooth just like his Daddy.
This is code for "all done!"

When I Grow Up

Yesterday Emory told us that when she grows up she is going to build a super tall tower. She went on to say that she was going to work with just boys and be in charge. She is also going to build a new gas station at the beach. There was an old gas station at Crystal Beach that had not been rebuilt following Hurricane Ike. Emory has been very concerned by this since she saw it and apparently has decided that she is going to fix it when she gets big. I have no idea where she comes up with this stuff!! Who knows maybe we have a future architect on our hands.
I had to include this picture of Emory.
She told me she was grumpy and kept making this face.
After I took a picture and showed her she told me this was her grumpy face.

Poison Control

I have called poison control three times since becoming a mother. Once when Emory was little and somehow got a hold of and the lid off a tube of A & D Ointment. Then again about two months ago when Cason used Emory's stool to climb the shelves in their bathroom cabinet where he found the Neosporin. He too got the lid off and was licking the tube when I found him. The third time was this morning when Cason decided to take a bite out of my deodorant. Thankfully deodorant does not appeal to his taste buds and I think between him spitting and me digging we got most of it out. I went ahead and called poison control because I was not sure if or how much he had swallowed, plus the phrase "better safe then sorry" always seems to run through my mind.  I was surprised to learn that deodorant is toxic and can cause someone to become very ill. I followed their instructions and gave him milk and food to eat immediately and waited to see if he was going to get sick. Thankfully he hasn't. Of the three times I have called poison control, the deodorant was the one that I was the least concerned about and ended up being the one that could make him the sickest. Lesson learned, no more assuming.

Seashell Souvenir's

Emory really enjoyed finding seashells when we were at the beach, so I decided to make the kids each a frame with the seashells we found. I thought it would be a cute easy way to display her finds and document their first trip to the beach! Plus there is only so much you can do with seashells!!!

Trip To The Beach

Last week we took a family vacation to Crystal Beach which is near Galveston. Unfortunately Bradley's dad got sick the day before we were suppose to leave and his parents were unable to come, so it was just my crew and Rachel, Andrew, and Mckenzie.  I had not been to Crystal Beach since Hurricane Ike leveled the area and I was happily surprised at how great everything looked. This lovely beach house was our home away from home!
This was Emory's first trip to the beach and she was SUPER EXCITED! She wanted to surf just as soon as we got there.
When we arrived the first day it was during high tide so there was not much of a beach, plus the tide pushed in the seaweed, needless to say the beach was not pretty. That did not stop Emory from getting her "surfboard" and hitting the waves!
This was also Cason's first trip to the beach and he loved it. I was a little worried the waves would scare him, but they did not phase him one bit. He would run full speed into the water and kept us on our toes.
He also loved filling the buckets with sand and seaweed! I do not think there was an inch of him that was not covered in sand.
After dinner on the first day we went back down to the beach to look for seashells. The tide was out then and the beach was much prettier. Bradley and Cason stayed behind because Cason was exhausted and ready for bed.
I love this picture of Emory. She was on a seashell hunt.
She decided she needed to swim a little too!
Saturday morning we were all ready to head to the beach and then it started raining. Emory got a little upset that it was raining and whined by the back door for a while. Cason and Mckenzie joined her to watch it rain.
After about a two hour rain delay the sun came out and off to the beach we went. Cason played with the buckets and shovels the majority of the time we were at the beach! Mckenzie and Emory had fun playing with the buckets too. Emory made several sand castles and seaweed casseroles! Ha!
Cason (14 months), Mckenzie (almost 2), & Emory (3)
Emory enjoyed flying her Barbie kite. She flew it "super high!"
Sunday morning we left Crystal Beach and headed to Galveston. Emory's friends Scott, Katy, and Niki went on vacation to Galveston a week or so ago and told her all about the ferry when they got back. Ever since then, Emory has been wanting to ride the ferry. When we got to the ferry it was already loading so we were able to drive on with no wait!
Cason was tired and spent most of the ferry ride on Bradley's shoulder.
Emory had a blast on the ferry.
We saw a blue ferry (ours was green) and waved to the people as they went by.
We also saw several dolphins (may need to click to enlarge).
I was hoping we would, because Scott had told Emory about the dolphins and she was really wanting to see some.
Once we got over to Galveston we headed to Pleasure Pier which just opened Memorial Day weekend. The pier is jam packed with rides, games, and restaurants. It is where the old Flagship hotel used to be. I did not realize that there use to be a Pleasure Pier in that location before it was destroyed by Hurricane Carla in 1961. It was really nice and Emory had a blast at the pier!!

This picture cracks me up because the way she is holding the steering wheel is the same way her daddy does. She also chose the black truck because her daddy's truck is black.
They had a double decker merry-go-round which really impressed Emory.
They also had teacups.
I think her favorite ride was the bumper cars. They were smaller and just for the little kids, she loved them!! She got the hang of it after a while and was able to drive her car, especially on the second go round.
Bradley does not do rides and Cason was to small for most of them. Cason loves to watch people and had a good time checking everyone and thing out!
After we left the pier we headed home. Cason fell asleep before we even got off the island and Emory was not far behind him.
I think it is safe to say that the kids had a wonderful vacation. Emory is already talking about going back to the beach and riding her ferry boat. The only downfall was that Mimi and Peepaw were not able to come....maybe next year we can all go back again!

Ear Infection Take 2

Yesterday when Bradley picked Cason and Emory up from Ms. Betty's, she told him that Cason had just started running a fever. He ran fever all of last night, even waking up at midnight in tears and burning up. So off to Dr. Huggins we went this morning who confirmed that Cason has another ear infection in his right ear. Cason was feeling and looking pretty miserable this morning but after lunch, numbing drops and a good nap....
he was feeling much better.
He is still not to sure about those numbing drops.
But gold fish make everything mmm mmm better!
