4 Month Check Up

Yesterday Emory and I went for her 4 month check up. Emory is now 4 1/2 months old and weighs 13 lbs 1 ounce. She was 25 1/4 in length and got a great report from the doctor. The doctor also confirmed (we suspected) that Emory's two front bottom teeth are coming in. Emory had to get two shots today, which she hated, and we left with two big blue band aides on each leg. I can't believe how much she has grown in two months and how many developmental milestones she has reached! Below is a picture from yesterday and from her 2 month check-up.

Emory Update

Emory finally goes for her 4 month doctor’s visit on Thursday May 28th. The appointment is nearly two weeks late, because her doctor was out all of last week on vacation and then Monday was a holiday, so Thursday it is! I can not wait to see how much Emory has grown. She has changed so much in the past four months and has such a personality. She is a very happy baby and loves to watch her daddy and I make faces and sounds at her. Her new favorites are clicking sounds and some noise I have created that sounds a bit like Donald Duck. Her little laugh is absolutely contagious and it melts my heart. It is the most adorable thing I have ever heard. I am trying to capture it on video and then I will attempt to post the clip! She is so aware of everything and watches and follows us so intently. She absolutely loves to watch baseball, I think it is the crowd noise in the background or the announcers, not sure but she loves it more than cartoons. She also has decided that she does not like to sleep on her back anymore and manages to roll to her side or belly during the night, so I am constantly rolling her back over during the night. Her newest accomplishment was eating her cereal all gone Sunday night! Below are some pictures I took of her playing and hanging out this weekend.
Emory with her first cabbage patch doll named Vanessa! My first cabbage patch doll was Lisa Marie and I loved them growing up, so she will inherit several more! This one was a present from her Aunt Rachel.

A Weekend Of Firsts

This weekend was full of firsts for Emory. On Friday night we tried cereal for the first time because Emory was no longer getting full nor sleeping through the night. What a mess! I think she wore more than she ate, but she seems to like the cereal. She DOES NOT like having to wait for more cereal to be put on the spoon. Imagine that, an impatient baby! The first night she was not quite sure about the spoon, but we practiced a little and now she seems to understand its purpose, however she’s still a bit impatient with waiting for the food. Emory also surprised me by squirming out of her bouncy and nearly onto the floor! Saturday morning I was cleaning the kitchen and Emory was sitting in her bouncy watching me, so I thought. However, when I looked back at her she was on her way out of the bouncy and onto the floor! We will definitely be using her straps now when sitting in the bouncy. On Sunday, Tessa stopped by the house on her way back home and Emory and I got to meet Olivia Kate for the first time! For those of you that do not know, Olivia was born 5 days after Emory. The two girls watched as Tessa and I took tons of pictures and then we watched them “play.” While they played Emory managed to suck on Olivia’s hand and somehow Olivia’s dress ended up in her mouth too! If something’s near her mouth my child will find a way to chew on it! Although short, it was a great visit and I hope to get up to Fort Worth/Dallas for a longer visit with Tessa and Olivia, as well as see Clancy, Maggie, Nicole and baby Hudson who was born the day before Emory!
Third attempt at eating cereal. Still wearing it!
What's this mom?

Mother's Day

I had a wonderful first Mother’s day, except my little girl was not feeling good. Emory woke up early Sunday morning with a low grade fever and runny nose. While Emory and I slept in, Bradley made me pancakes! I then got to open presents from Bradley and Emory. Bradley got me a beautiful tea rose and picture frame and Emory “decorated” a flower pot, which I love. She “made” it at Ms. Betty’s and it is the best flower pot in the world because it has Emory’s little footprint on it. Ms. Betty told Bradley that they tried to do to hand prints too, but Emory did not cooperate. Gee, I wonder where she gets her stubborn streak from! We then went to Bradley’s parent’s house to have lunch with Grammy (Emory’s great grandmother), her great Uncle Scott and his friend Gail, Aunt Rachel, Uncle Andrew, and of course Mimi and PeePaw. Emory slept through lunch because she still did not feel well, but I am sure she enjoyed sleeping on her Daddy’s and PeePaw's chest. Emory is feeling much better now and is back to her happy drooling smiling little self.
