So Grown Up

It seems like Emory is coming up with something new daily now. Last week she started saying "oh man" or as Emory says "oooh maaannn." She uses it in context too and is so cute when she says it. Her other new thing is to say "ok mama" or "ok daddy" when we tell, ask, or explain something to her. Needless to say we have been hearing alot of ok' s around our house. She also has started to really take an interest in letters. We are currently working on spelling her name, which she can do with help, but she really likes the letter R and likes to jump immediately to it after the E.

Emory loves to build towers with her Daddy. She has gotten quite good at stacking Lego's and blocks and stacked 8 blocks all by herself the other night. Here is one of her masterpieces! This was snapped just before she knocked it over, which is what she does after she builds them. Then she proceeds to say, "Uh oh tower broken," like it was an accident or something. Such a mess! She is also very into coloring in her coloring books. Last Sunday Emory and I colored most of the afternoon. She is such a little girl now which is both sad and exciting. It's exciting because this is a really fun age, but I still miss my baby girl. Thank goodness she still shows up from time to time needing a little babying from her Mommy!

I had to include this picture because this face has ATTITUDE written all over it. She had just "stolen" her Daddy's pen and paper and from the look on her face had no plans on giving it back.

Halloween Weekend

Friday Emory had her little Halloween party at daycare and came home with lots of goodies and these icky eyeball glasses that she thinks are hysterical. Here she is riding her cow Saturday morning in her pj's wearing the eyeball glasses. Ms. Betty said that she took pictures and would be printing some for the parents. I can't wait to see Emory and all her daycare friends dressed up in their costumes.

Later that afternoon we ran over to Lufkin to do some shopping and then headed back to Nacogdoches for Scare on the Square that evening, which is a fall fest our town has. We were half way to Lufkin when I remembered I forgot my camera. So needless to say no pictures of Scare on the Square this year.

I did manage to get one after we got home, but it was late and Emory was not in the best of moods, as it was well past her bed time. So here is my little ballerina after a fun filled day. Don't let this picture fool you, she went into melt down mode just as soon as I snapped it!

Dress Rehearsal

I am out of town this week with work and Emory has her little Halloween party at daycare this Friday, so I figured I needed to make sure her ballerina outfit still fit this weekend before I left. She loves being a ballerina and twirled and twirled around. She then decided to put on her high heels, play her drum, and put on a little show. She loves to wear her high heels too and walks really well in them.

The Pumpkin Patch

Sunday afternoon Bradley and I took Emory to the pumpkin patch. It was a bit harder this year getting half-way decent pictures, because Emory was more interested in rolling, sliding down, and sitting on the pumpkin's rather than getting her picture taken with them. Not to mention all the excitement with watching the other kids at the patch. Emory also had fun playing with the hay, or as she called it horsee eat. She had a great time though and picked out a little Emory size pumpkin to take home.

21 Months

Emory Grace, you turned 21 months old last Friday. Developmentally, y0u have grown by leaps and bounds over the last month. You are a little sponge when it comes to learning words and seem to pick up a new word daily. You have learned to count to 10, although you prefer to start with the number 3 for some reason. I think it is your favorite number! You also said your first official "big girl" sentence, which was "Daddy cereal bar all gone." You are learning to sing the ABC song, although you currently just know abcd and then la la la the rest of the song.

You really like choo choo trains right now and think it is funny to say "All Aboard."

You also are very independent and insist on dressing yourself most of the time. You have also learned how to put on your shoes. Here you are clapping for yourself after putting on your pj's!

You love to read books, dress up, and play with your toys.

You are so funny and are constantly making Daddy and Mommy laugh. You are also very polite and usually say please and thank you. This weekend you started saying your welcome, but you say "Thank You Your Welcome" all at once, which sounds more like tankyouurwelcum. Too cute! You have also grown some over the last month and you are now wearing 18 month clothes.

We love you Emory!

Trip to the Zoo

This past weekend my parents were down for a visit and Saturday my mom and I took Emory to the Lufkin Zoo. It is not a large zoo but it is nice and has many animals plus the Z & OO railroad which Emory loved. She really liked the animals especially the many peacocks which wander freely around the zoo. She had a great time and we will have to go back soon.

The giraffes. There were several giraffes at the zoo including a few babies, but they were in the shadows and I could not get a good picture.

Emory liked the lions. I only got a picture of the "mommy" lion because the "daddy" lion would not look at us.

Emory was very excited to see that the lions and tigers played with balls too. In each of their pens there was this huge ball that I guess they roll around. She is still talking about the lion and tiger balls.

I tried to get her picture with this lion statue, but she was not having it. She was not sure what this was, she touched it but then bolted. This is as close as she would go after that.

There was about 15 turtles sunning on these rocks.

There were all kinds of different birds roaming freely around the zoo.

This mommy peacock and her three babies followed us around for a while. Emory really liked the peacocks.

She was also impressed with the big "lizard."

It opened it's eyes after a while and Emory thought that was funny.

After the Zoo we rode the Z & OO railroad (twice), which is a little train that takes you around the park. She would not look at me just the train, so this is the best picture I got.

Mommy & Daughter Day

Saturday after an unsuccessful morning of shopping for fall/winter clothes for Emory, we loaded up and headed to the park. We had beautiful weather this weekend and Emory had a blast at the park. She swung, ran, batted her eyes at a little boy, and tried to climb all of the jungle gyms that she is too little for. Needless to say she had a blast. I think the slide and swings were her favorite though. After a while Emory exclaimed that she was hungry, so I decided to treat her to McDonald's. I made the mistake of sitting next to the big window that looks out into the play area. Emory is already a slow eater in general but she was mega slow due to her watching all the commotion outside. I think we were there for close to a hour. After lunch we headed home and Emory was fast asleep before we got home.
