Trip to the Zoo

This past weekend my parents were down for a visit and Saturday my mom and I took Emory to the Lufkin Zoo. It is not a large zoo but it is nice and has many animals plus the Z & OO railroad which Emory loved. She really liked the animals especially the many peacocks which wander freely around the zoo. She had a great time and we will have to go back soon.

The giraffes. There were several giraffes at the zoo including a few babies, but they were in the shadows and I could not get a good picture.

Emory liked the lions. I only got a picture of the "mommy" lion because the "daddy" lion would not look at us.

Emory was very excited to see that the lions and tigers played with balls too. In each of their pens there was this huge ball that I guess they roll around. She is still talking about the lion and tiger balls.

I tried to get her picture with this lion statue, but she was not having it. She was not sure what this was, she touched it but then bolted. This is as close as she would go after that.

There was about 15 turtles sunning on these rocks.

There were all kinds of different birds roaming freely around the zoo.

This mommy peacock and her three babies followed us around for a while. Emory really liked the peacocks.

She was also impressed with the big "lizard."

It opened it's eyes after a while and Emory thought that was funny.

After the Zoo we rode the Z & OO railroad (twice), which is a little train that takes you around the park. She would not look at me just the train, so this is the best picture I got.

Mommy & Daughter Day

Saturday after an unsuccessful morning of shopping for fall/winter clothes for Emory, we loaded up and headed to the park. We had beautiful weather this weekend and Emory had a blast at the park. She swung, ran, batted her eyes at a little boy, and tried to climb all of the jungle gyms that she is too little for. Needless to say she had a blast. I think the slide and swings were her favorite though. After a while Emory exclaimed that she was hungry, so I decided to treat her to McDonald's. I made the mistake of sitting next to the big window that looks out into the play area. Emory is already a slow eater in general but she was mega slow due to her watching all the commotion outside. I think we were there for close to a hour. After lunch we headed home and Emory was fast asleep before we got home.

What a Mess!

Emory is at such a fun age right now. She gets excited over the smallest things and shrills with delight. Saturday after a long day of running errands, Emory and I ended our shopping day at Wal-Mart. Well a certain Dora balloon caught her eye and since she had been a good girl all day, I decided to get it for her. You would have thought this was the first balloon she had ever laid eyes on the way she carried on. I got a little embarrassed as people were coming out of the aisles to see what all the fuss was about. Nothing but my super excited child saying Dora balloon at the top of her lungs and giggling.

She was rearing and ready to go run errands Saturday. She had HER purse and everything.

Only problem was Mommy was not ready to go, which made Emory sad.

Poor thing, could not understand why we could not go bye bye right then and there. She stood at the door the whole time I got dressed, saying bye bye Mommy over and over. Thank goodness she can't reach the dead bolt yet, or she would have been out the door and half way down the driveway.

This is her new "cheese" face! This is what I get anytime I ask her to say cheese.

She is also becoming very independent wanting to do things all by HERSELF!

Like put her bow aka headband in her hair all by herself. She does this pretty well most of the time. She also likes to put on her own shoes, however does NOT like it when she puts them on the wrong feet and they feel funny.

She also loves to play hide, and anytime Bradley or I come in from outside we have to find Emory who is usually hiding somewhere. Here she is hiding from her daddy.

Bradley had just found her in this picture. I think Emory could play hide all day long if we would let her.

EMORY'S BIG NEWS

Emory is going to be a BIG SISTER this March! I will be 13 weeks this Thursday and my official due date is April 2, 2011, but since I will have to have another C-section my doctor says it will be a March baby! I have been to see the doctor twice now, the first time we got to see the baby and then last week I got to hear the heart beat, which was strong and perfect! I have been sicker this time around but feel my morning and I use that word loosely (more like all day) sickness is starting to ease

up!

This picture to me captures Emory's thoughts on the subject..... I have no idea what Mommy and Daddy are talking about!

Emory will be 26 months when the baby is born and I think she is going to be a wonderful big sister and eager to help out, maybe even too much! We are super excited and eager to find out if we are having another little girl or a boy! I don't care either way as long as it is healthy. I think most of our family is rooting for a little boy though!

Sunday Morning

This Sunday Emory and I stayed home while Daddy went to church because I was not feeling well. We stayed in our pj's all morning. Emory spent the morning playing with her toys, putting together puzzles and watching cartoons.

 

Then as nap time approached she had a major melt down for not getting her way. I can't remember what it was about but it was not pretty.

I decided to take pictures of this Oscar winning performance and show her when she was done. Let's just say she did not like what she saw in the pictures.

Then after a much needed nap it was time for lunch and an impromptu game of hide. Emory just hides at this point and waits for us to "find" her. Emory will hide behind anything, doors, cups, pillows, it does not matter. She is usually pretty easy to find because she gets so tickled and can't control her giggles!

After lunch we got dressed and went over to Bradley's parents house to visit Aunt Rachel and baby Mckenzie. I forgot to take my camera though so no pictures. Emory did really well with Mckenzie. She really took it upon herself to make sure Mckenzie's pacifier stayed in her mouth. She got a little jealous with sharing her toys a few times, but other than that she was really good with Mckenzie.

20 Months Old

Emory Grace, you turned 20 months old today. I can't believe you will be 2 in just 4 months.

- You are still wearing size 12 month clothes and a size 4 shoe, although you have a few pairs of size 5's that you have started to wear.

-You are wearing a size 4 pull-up and we are still working on the art of going potty in your potty chair.

-You have MASTERED the art of flushing the toilet which you love doing!

-You just recently learned how to open doors and enjoy going and getting things out of the pantry and your closet.

-You are quite the comedian and love putting on a show!

-You love tutu's and dancing like a ballerina.

-You got your very 1st pair of ballet shoes yesterday, which you were quite proud of.

-You still love for things to be in order and you love to sweep with your little broom set.

-You are quite the little helper.

-You also enjoy shopping and trying on new clothes and shoes, here you are trying on your new boots!

-You have really taken an interest in blocks and puzzles lately and last weekend you put together one of your puzzles (correctly) all by yourself!

- You are quite the talker and know alot of words. You love to watch commercials on TV and point out what things are.

-You are also excellent at making a big mess in a hurry and Mommy has nick named you her little Texas tornado, because that is what the living room looks like when you are done playing!

-You still have your "moments" when you throw fits for not getting your way, but you are learning, and for the most part a very sweet little girl.

My Little Ballerina

Emory loves to dance like a ballerina, however she THINKS she HAS to wear a tutu to do so. When she wants to dance she runs into her room yelling tutu, tutu mommy. After she puts one on, she usually twirls and twirls until she gets dizzy and falls down. Poor thing, but she thinks it's funny. She also insists on wearing her tutu around her chest rather than her waist. Not sure why, but that is the way she LIKES it. She's such a mess!
